Solar Panel Installation Company in Portsmouth
Portsmouth is a highly populated city located in Hampshire on the south coast of England. Most of the city is spread across Portsea Island, which offers residents and visitors numerous opportunities to wander the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, shop in Gunwarf Quays, or enjoy the city’s beautiful coastline. Portsmouth is also a forward-thinking city, making significant strides towards sustainability and renewable energy.
In 2019, along with many other local towns and cities, Portsmouth City Council declared a climate emergency and set ambitious targets to become net zero by 2030. Their climate plan involves making buildings more energy-efficient, encouraging greener transport, reducing waste and supporting the local community and businesses to get involved. Portsmouth has even claimed to be a leading solar panel investor, with an ambitious plan to install around 40,000 solar panels on local authority buildings.

Which solar panels do we install?
There are two different types of solar Panels that we install in Portsmouth: solar thermal and solar PV.
Solar thermal systems are for heating hot water only, and you require a hot water tank to store this.
Meanwhile, solar PV is a technology that converts sunlight into DC electricity. When connected through an inverter, solar energy is converted into AC that can be used in the home to reduce energy usage.
When paired with solar batteries, our solar panel and battery storage systems can reduce your home’s energy consumption from the national grid by up to 70%!
How does a solar panel system work for the home?
Solar panels take the sun’s solar energy and convert it to DC electricity. We then take this energy and convert it to AC electricity through an inverter, which can be utilised in our homes and businesses.
We can combine solar installation with a solar battery and set the system up so that it effectively monitors the consumption of the property. The battery will charge when there is more solar power than the property consumes and discharge when the demand from the property increases.
A second function of a battery would be to charge the grid using cheap utility rates at nighttime when the demand on the grid is less. This is particularly useful in the winter when less solar energy is available.
