The amount of solar panels you’ll need to fully charge your Powerwall device depends on how much energy your household uses, the type of solar panels, and the type of Tesla product we install – Powerwall 2, Powerwall 3, etc. A typical household may need anywhere between 14 and 20 solar panels to fully charge a Tesla Powerwall.
Do you need an inverter with a Tesla Powerwall?
This depends on which model you choose. The Powerwall 3 and Powerwall+ both have an integrated inverter, so you won’t need to install one separately for your solar panels. However, the older Powerwall 2 model is designed to be built onto an existing solar system and will need a separate inverter to work.
